Hi, i got Sky + installed a few days ago. My query is to do with recording films with DD 5.1 to the Sky + planner.

My TV ( built in DD 5.1 ) has only 1 digital connection which is usually connected to my DVD player. When Sky + records a film with DD 5.1, am I right in assuming that I only need to connect the digital lead to my sky + box when i want to view the film in 5.1, as i'm assuming the 5.1 signal is saved in the hard drive even if i don't have the digital optical lead connected to the Sky + box.

You are correct. The DD 5.1 is recorded on the hard drive and the optical connection is only required for playback.

Buy an adapter which splits the optic into two outputs.(works backwards too)

Just have to turn the one machine off whilst listening to the other.

Homebase sell them, only a few quid.
