Just had sky + installed today.

Quality box even though whitish colour. Does anybody know if Sky broadcast any channels in 5:1 at the moment. My box is giving me a stereo signal only to the Receiver. Also is 5:1 only via the optical connection. Yamaha 630 set on Auto.

How does Dolby pro logic II Work?

Yeah, you have to connect an optical output from the box to get the 5.1, which is only on (I think) Sky Movies 1, 2 and 3. Even then, not all films are 5.1.

And even then it often falls over. Most unstable piece of equipment I have ever bought and it is al down to the DD transmissions. In fact if you ring up Sky they tell you to put back to stereo

5.1 is only available via the Optical output.

You have to go into the SETUP menu (Sound settings) and select DOLBY D from the prompt Optical Output.

Dont forget to save your settings from the same window.

That, should get you 5.1 from the relevant channels.
