Thanks to Xusia of Delos' link, I've just seen the trailer for this film.

Wow! It looks amazing! Is that a Kittyhawk he's flying?

I really must see this film. From the trailer, Jude Law seems to make a good fist of being a flying ace. Hooray for escapist, meaningless sci-fi!

    Hi,

Yeah, just saw the trailer a few days back, and it looks cool, hope the story/script holds up the the great visuals. And Jolie is in it, a plus.

Is Jude Law to have a US accent in the film? If not I would have put him in a Spitfire.

A P40 :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Of all the planes available a P40

Why not something decent like late Spitfire, Merlin Mustang, Typhoon, FW190, Corsair, or a Spitfire IX

    Sick Note:

Sorry, I didn't see your link to it!

I think the choice of the P40 makes some sense. It needs to be a more obscure aircraft for this film, as it's not a WWII movie. If you're going for an 'alternative history' movie, then it makes sense to pick something different.

Besides, the Kittyhawk had a lot of success against spaceships in the Antarctic in 1943...

P40 is not that obscure - it is just not that good an aircraft

The other aircraft you mentioned were iconic, though.

Also, the P40 has a bit more of a 30's look about it: it's more squat and agressive looking. I thought it worked well in the trailer.

And anyway, I'm sure Sky Captain can handle it.

I have heard of this film but couldn't get the trailers to work on the work PC - haven't tried at home, but I will get it as it seems good.

I agree the P40 has definately got the 1930s look, bit like the Hurricane with its fabric fusilage.

I also suppose an "Iconic" plane would "steal" the film a little.
