Ive recently had to cut my sky cable(due to dog damge believe it or not), I then tried to connect the cable back together having taken out the damaged part and now get no signal. the only bit different is the missing inch or so.

Any ideas anyone out there as I dont want to have to pay for another cable, and cant see an obvious problem

My brother-in-law recently cut right through mine - I just joined it back together, made sure it was well taped up to stop any water ingress and everything seems to be fine.

Can't figure why yours isn't the same.

    Cheers,

    Martin.

You should really use F connectors and a back-to-back barrel connector, and some self-amalgamating tape if it's outdoors. A common mistake is to have just one strand of the outer cable wrapped around the inner, causing the power to the LNB to short out.

Just joined it through a screw down electrical connection and also by trying to twist the central wire together bith failed. it the cable inside thats broken so no outside damage
