    Hi

I'd like to get Sky+, but don't like the idea of taking a chance on which model Sky will give me. I'm looking at using a specialist to install Sky+ (I already have Sky digital) can anyone suggest any sources to get the unit please? I assume that the Pace unit is still the one to go for? My intention would be to upgrade the hard drive asap.

    Regards
    Nick

I've just found this: Pace 3100 it seems a good deal. How would this compare with the option of buying direct from Sky?

    Hi Nick 55,

Nice to see you on the forum. I have Sky + and am now on Pace V2; this is excellent. Sky gave me that one a year ago after lots of trouble with replacement refurbished V1 digiboxes.

When I first started with Sky digital (not Sky+) I rang lots of independant contractors until I found one who would give me a Panasonic box as Sky said they couldn't promise what box I would receive. You could try this to get the box of your choice.

I don't know about the Pace 3100. Maybe this is the box I have as it's model number is 3.024, sounds a bit llike it; the Pace V2 is certainly the one to go for from my experience and the general consensus of this forum. The search tool on this forum could probably give you lots of information on the Pace 3100. Good luck with your installation.

    Hi
Just bought my Sky + box including quad LNB from Simply Digital (www.simplydigital.co.uk) then found a local installer to fit for £50, which was a much better job than sky have ever done. Total was less than if I had bought through Sky :) .

    Thanks for your replies.

Cynthia, I assumed that the Pace 3100 was the latest Sky box, but I could be mistaken.

Barney, thanks for the link, is this the one to go for? Sky + I was thinking of the top item.

Yes, the top one is the one I bought which is the standard new Pace 3100 hard drive Sky+ box (model 3.024 on system details) and it comes with a Raven LNB which is the one the fitter I used said his company supplies.Click on picture and box comes up with full spec.
You can buy it without the LNB (further down page) but looked into trying to buy seperate and this still worked out a good deal.
When I ordered from Simply Digital it arrived next day.
    Hope this helps

Not wanting to be silly, but I like the way on the first link that the 160GB version costs less than their 120GB version... ;)

    Thanks for the replies everyone.

I'm trying now to find a local installer, proving a little more difficult than I expected... :thumbsdow
