    Hi all.

I'm very new at this, and just got my Grundig 310/2 skybox today. I have
a Triax dish with a standard LNB. I got both from a friend, since they were
on his house when he moved in, and he doesn't care about such things.

First my dish was set up on my 'elevated garden'(don't know the word), since
it should be pointing pretty much south, and I would be able to turn the dish
to face straight east if I wanted. I moved the dish very, very slowly, while
looking at the screen menu with the lock-on etc, but nothing happened.
Nothing at all! So, I checked the cable and F-connectors, cut them off, re-
mounted them, and started over. No results. By the way, when I touch the
F-connector that sits on the LNB, I get zapped...even when the MAINS have
been disconnected from the skybox!? Is this normal? I had to unplug the F-
con from the box, to be able to touch the other end at the LNB.

Then I moved EVERYTHING to my first floor, to the outside garden there, on
the other side of the house, and started again. No luck here either!! Like
before, I don't get anything at all, from any sat.

So, my question is, what is the commen fault in these cases? What are the
odds that the LNB is toast? I didn't expect to home in on Sky right away,
but I thought I would get something, just a short peak in signal strength
    or the like!

    Advice??

    THANKS for your time...AGAIN

    Nicholas

Well, all of a sudden it found hotbird, out of the thin air:)

Signal strength almost at max, quality at 50%.

It says it's searching for channel listings, how long is this supposed to take?
    well over 15minutes now...

    Thanks!

    Nicholas

Sounds like you're on the wrong satellite ! You want 28.2 degrees east of true south. You may have found the 19.2 degree E satellite.
