I was told that it was best to connect my sky box via Scart-Componant. I purchased the required cable and plugged it in to be met with a pink picture which was moving constantly. i have changed my settings to use RGB in the sky box but the same happens. Tried in my DVD player same problem, although when i change it to NTSC it stays pink but the picture doesn't move!

running everything through S-Vid at the moment. taken cable back to shops and changed for another one same results.

    Am i missing somehting?

    thanks

    What cable is it?

If your trying to connect scart to component then you will need a converter like the js tec rgb to component converter which imo is the best out there.

but you're taking an rgb feed and pluuging it into a component input so you wont get anything however good the cables are, without a converter.

it will only carry an RGsB signal (from sky and your dvd's scart) whereas your input board on the plasma is looking for component

you could use a scart extender (one that you plug two scarts into) and just the one converter

Not sure if this helps atall, but I had a similar issue when connecting my Sky+ box to an HD+ (video scaler) via Component. I eventually found the cable I needed: See the this thread for more details ...

I am running my set up as follows:

Sky+ to Sony HX510 recorder via Thor Scart; HX510 (set to progressive)to Plasma (Hitachi 7200) via compnent.

When I select component on the Plasma and run Sky+ throught the DVD to the Plasma - getting a far better picture.

Is it component? Don't know but it is noticeably better.....

i think the rs232 is just for engineer purposes and is not an output
