I have recently bought a new flat with a Satellite point. Looks like an aerial point but has more plastic on the inner bit...

To cut a long story short, I telephoned my Management Company and they told me that the flat has a communal dish for SKY. I have never ever used SKY before, so I want some advice:

    1. Is it worth me getting my SKY box (HD prefered as I have a Pioneer 507XD Plasma) from SKY?

    2. If I buy a SKY HD box from eBay, does that mean that I will not receive any channels through it unless I buy a SKY card?

    3. Do I need to buy a SKY card from SKY or can I buy it online from somewhere else once I buy my SKY HD box?

    4. I know a few years ago that you can buy scrambled cards, is this still the case? If so, can someone advise me on where to buy a SKY HD card that has channels at a one off fee?

    5. I am interested in Zee TV and Indian channels, so how do I get a card for this?

    Please can someone help.

    THanks

    Sachin

Unless you have 2 feeds I wouldn't go with HD or Sky+, not to say they won't work but you'll lose a lot of functionality such as recording 2 channels etc. There are work arounds but if your just after a user friendly box standard sky would be better.

As a new customer Sky will install and give you a box free so it might be worth giving them a call, otherwise the forum classifieds usually have a few boxes, you'd still need to get card from Sky though.
