I was initially one of the many who scoffed at Sky for fencing off such a huge amount of disk space for their new gimmick.

I am now however finding myself regularly flicking through Anytime and frequently discover material that I end up watching.

It gets the thumbs up from me!

Since it's there, I do actually watch some stuff on it. But I'd still like the choice of having the full disk if I wanted it.

So far so good. Watched a couple of things, some I wouldn't normally watch but turned out OK.

I just see it another alternative 'outlet' to watching programmes, of which there are now three with Sky (Sky TV, Planner and now Anytime).

I sort of like it. Some of the content is really good and it is stuff I would not normally watch. They also save some cool films to the HDD ready to watch whenever I like.

It would be cool if they could maybe have a way of finding out what you like and giving you more content you might like. Even a simple questionairre that would then hold information on programs you might like and then give you more shows suited to your tastes. For example I don't like all those kids shows from Disney so if I could tell them to stop sending me those and send me more of the other stuff.

Didn't TIVO have this feature were it learnt your viewing habbits.
Like if you seemed to tape Star Trek enterprise a lot it would then download Next generation, DS9, Voyager or even BSG or SG:A.
Same for Simpsons fans. It would then download shows like Futurama, Family Guy or American Dad.

It would be great if you could choose.

I find it ok and look forward to getting something a bit different like Lawrence/Easy Rider etc. Watched the Matador which probably wouldn't have bothered with but quite a good and quirky film. I may be paranoid but starting to feel that downloads are marrying up with our normal viewing habits. My daughter is addicted to Dora the Explorer and that has now appeared in Anytime. Also receiving less documentaries and more films which matches our viewing habits. Reminds me I recorded 1984 the other day and must watch it sometime soon.

Having been with Virgin Media, who have VOD, I think I prefer Anytime. It stores some HD films I want to watch, as well as some interesting documentaries. I wouldn't say I watch a lot of it, but I think it's pretty good, and always worth checking.

I am finding it reasonably useful. It's nice being able to watch Lost with no DOG and without those two 118 guys every 15 mins :)

Did find it useful on Saturday, wanted to watch The Matador in HD, but I had no free disk space, but it was on Anytime, which was quite handy.

So far so good for me...a thumbs up.

There seems to be a lot of HD content in Anytime which is good, and I love the feature where if you hit record it transfers into your personal planner...yeah I know it's all on the same hard disk, but I still like it :)

I don't watch a lot of "traditional" format TV shows, but love Lost not having ad breaks etc...

Whilst on the subject of Anytime, I also use the PC service a lot to catch up with the 5 minute Prem / Champ League match highlight packages - these are great...hoping they do something similar for the start of the NFL season, but I doubt there would be enough interest...

I like it too but there were no subtitles in Lost! There were before. Also couldn't watch it either in Sky One HD. Hopeless! :thumbsdow

I kind of like the expectation that there's some little gem on there (documentatry) that I would of otherwise have missed.

Like others, I'd like the flexibility to block certain content (Kids etc)

I give it the thumbs up, I paid for a 160gb box and that is what I have got, I see this as a free extra and use it quite a lot. I am wondering what will happen in future though, as, correct me if I am wrong but it is not on mainy (if any) SKY+ boxes yet and I have noticed SKY are very generous with HD material, do you think there will be a decrease in HD stuff when it becomes more mainstream? I am only going by my G.friends mum's SKY+ box as she has not yet got anytime option yet...?
    Thanks :)

AGREED. Its ok if a little random. (Had about 4 films of similar genre other day...) ALso why Lost and No 24 or Simpsons? It should have highest viewed programmes as their are no HD repeat if your box fails a recording.

INCIDENTALLY there is an option in the menu to switch anytime off now, if u select it will they give you back the disk space now..I'm doubting it...

Sky+ boxes get a different selection of programmes on Anytime.

I watch Lost just to avoid the DOGs and adverts, but not much else. The films all turn up soon enough on on the movie channels anyway.

I must admit I hate scrolling through the Anytime menu. Can't the PIP (and the sound) be optional? It's utterly pointless to see a few seconds of a programme over and over again. Fortunately it doesn't take long to find Lost.

I'd still rather have the extra space.

It's not perfect, but I do watch programmes from it - Easy Rider, LofA and Lost.

Overall, if we can't have the space then it's better than nothing.

I thought it was a useful backup for when you can't find anything else to watch on the 100-odd channels  but I've now switched it off since it started switching off my box at 10pm if recording on HD2 and another channel.

I emailed Sky about this last week, but so far have only had a confirmation reply (Saturday).

It gets the thumbs up from me -

I have watched several documentaries that I wouldn't have normally found. I have also watched a few films from it + Soccer am best bits etc.

I understand that some people want to tailor it somewhat - i.e select / deselect certain genres, but the idea is that a lot of the content are "hidden gems" - if you were allowed to tailor it too much then it would effectively be another planner.

I'm becoming irritated with it for the glitches that seem to have arrived since anytime.

As for programming, it would be better if they had "Anytime" exclusives that aren't a day or to before they air in the normal slot etc.

Movies a couple of months before sky premier & right after box office finishes, even if just fox movies.

Why aren't they being more proactive & getting other channels onboard to showcase programmes that have HD versions, CSI, Heroes for example.

funny you should mention exclusives - theres an exclusive on the new brainiac episode before it airs. not lost i guess but its a start :)

and i LOVE anytime!, i wake up in the morning and i cant wait to boot up the box and see what gem its downloaded overnight. ....im so sad. lol

strangely enough, its taken me a few weeks to realize that by watching lost on anytime, i get to avoid the adverts (i used to tape on sky one HD and watch it later - fast forward the ads).

now it feels like i've downloaded it on torrent - but its in HD. awesome :)

Like most people I give it a 'good but could be better' mark. I'd definitely like more flexibility, for example an option to delete anything I definately don't want to watch and I'd like the programs to more accurately reflect the sort of things I record. However it's early days and it could well be these features might come eventually. I can understand it being a pain for people unlucky enough to have noisy drives, I've had my box almost a year and it's always been virtually totally silent.

So you have anytime and you are on a SKY+ box? I wonder why my mother in law has not got anytime yet then? Anyone know why?
    Thanks
