Sky+ and Dolby Digital

    I read in a mag that Sky + sometimes broadcast in Dolby Digital. I thought that you could only get DD from a DVD player.

    Can anyone tell me how often they broadcast with Dolby Digital and which channels they do it on, ie movies only.

    SKY should really be looking into broadcasting DD5.1 on any channel that carries programming with a suitable soundtrack.
    Couple that with a cheaper SKY+, standard digiboxes that have a fully enabled optical output or the fabled Pace addon board and they will have something to brag about again.

    Exactly.
    Do SKY really see DD5.1 being just as marketing gimmick to pursuade people to pay in the region of £300 for a SKY+ digibox?
    I understand why it is difficult to introduce a DD5.1 output on subsidised boxes when over 5 million are being used already but surely an agreement with the suppliers can produce an enabled digibox which could then be offered for a small fee.

    Why don't they just broadcast everything on Movies WS (at least) in DD ?? If you don't have sky+, you're still still going to be able to listen to it.

    It gets on my wick to sit down to watch a movie on WS, and they don't do it in DD, but then say 2 weeks later it'll be on in DD.

    Sky - sort it out !! It defeats the object of having DD.

    No - that's the point... if you don't have Sky+ you can't listen to it, because the Sky+ is the only box that can output DD.

    well, no...what I mean is you'll still be able to listen to it on a normal digibox, but not in DD. So why not just broadcast every film in DD.
