Skoda fabia estate

Well-known Member
My little corsa was written off the other day by a lorry plowing into it. We already have one estate (passat) and am looking for another.

I have complete faith in the vw 1.9 tdi engine and so am looking to get another. We don't need 2 big estates so I've come to the conclusion a fabia estate (40cm shorter than the passat) is a good idea. 100 hp relatively cheap to run and insure it seems perfect.

I'm after advice especially from owners as to what to look out for and any problems that may be common. Looking at 60-100k miles and a Cambelt change been done. Any advice?

Looking at ideally £3k max but seen a great one for 2.3k shame it's way too long a trip.

Advice, opinions, suggestions, and slating welcome!

At that price Fabia 1?

My mrs has a 2001 1.4 16v, its had lots of niggles which means there wont be another but at the time of purchase I could only find praise so dont let me put you off.

Biggest problem is leaking back doors and expensive dealer parts.

It's a 2004. Not sure what to that is? Elegance model so all the bells and whistles. Over 10 hours on the road round trip though when I'm very busy!

Well bought one... 03 plate elegance (top of the range) massively comprehensive service history but only ever been maintenance so it's been well looked after.

Drives amazingly well and we got 67mpg on the journey home. Plenty of space inside and very happy.

Got a very good indy vw specialist near us that uses genuine vw group parts at a fraction of the cost.
