For her birthday my wife wants a skinny digital camera, the thinner the better. I have seen some really cheapo ones and some expensive ones over £200.00. Ideally I'd like to spend around £100.00 but I haven't a clue where to start, what is the thinnest camera out there?...It doesn't need to be great as it is for taking "snaps" rather than photo's.

    Thanks in advance

I recommend the smaller fuji ones, my missus has one and is a doddle to use.

You can still get a refurbished Casio EX-S100. I got one of these for my sister-in-law as a xmas presant and she loves it. Don't be put off by the fact that it's a refurb as the camera I had was good as new.

I take it that the casing won't be scratched etc? Thank you for this, it looks very interesting.

The "problem" is that minimisation/ design carries a cost in the point and shoot market. £100 is a fairly low budget for a decent camera and if most of your money is going towards making it small the picture quality will suffer considerablly. At the moment the market does seem to be trying to aim towards picture quality a lot more than a year or two ago when companies were churning out the "cheap and cheerful" or "designer" units with no thought to useability or quality.

I was really surprised with the quality of the camera when it arrived. I didn't know what to expect with it being a refurb but it was like new. There were no marks on the camera at all and all the accessories were brand new. I was also surprised at the picture quality with it being only 3 megapixels. The only downside was the box it came in. It had been repackaged in a plain white box.
My sister-in-law was extremely happy with it.
