    Hi guys (and girls?)

I am in the process of making a screen for my proj now.

As older films are in the 4:3 size and the newer in 16:9 I wonder
if the width is changing when the format changes?

That is, if I adjust the proj exactly for the 4:3 size.

I don't think that is the case but I am not sure.

If not I would make a screen that is 4:3 and 1,9 meter times
1,43 meter and mask top and bottom when looking at 16:9 movies.

The other way around could not work I guess as the 4:3 pic will
be off the top and bottom in that case.

Am I rigth or am I wrong?

    Regards,
    Ralph

    Hi Ralph,

Well it depends on how much material in either format you watch the most ??

If you watch more 16:9 material than 4:3 then a 16:9 would work, otherwise have a 4:3 screen and make some form of velvet covered board to attach above & below to mask it into a 16:9 screen ??

I tend to watch more 16:9 material over 4:3 material, so i went for a 16:9 sized screen.

Hope this helps in your choice ??

    Cheers

    Will go for a 4:3 screen 190 X 143 cm to get approx 80" 16:9
and approx 96 4:3 and masking top and bottom when 16:9.

    Thanks Cosmic023
