Since NTSC is available in US only, why does my video say NTSC playback?

    Hi all,

I've got a query if anyone can help me out.

I read that the NTSC video standard is available in America and not the UK. I live in the UK, the video which I bought in the UK has a label on it saying "NTSC playback". Now how come I have that since it is meant to be available in America and not the UK.

    Many thanks for any help.

Most UK/European VCR's now have NTSC playback. It's really just for enhanced compatibility, allowing you to playback NTSC tapes.
