I watched the R1 last night, and a lot of the dialogue was accompanied by a clearly audible metallic ringing (this was the DD track, not DTS). I haven't experienced this before. After searching google and the forums I can't find anyone else mentioning it either. Can anyone here please confirm that their R1 copy sounds fine on the DD track?

    Thanks.

I watched this on r3 a few days ago and although didnt listen to the dd track, I chose the dts, this sounded fine.
What did you think of the movie by the way. I wasnt to impressed couldnt really get into the story, I will check out the dd soundtrack and let you know if theres any problems.
Have you tried listening to the stereo track.

I don't have the DVD on me to check, but I think the R1 only has DD 5.1 and DTS 5.1, no stereo.

I quite enjoyed it. I've never read the graphic novels, but am familiar with Miller's (sp?) work. For me the approach of simulating the original artwork really worked well. Taking the film purely on its own merits however, I think Mickey Rourk's performance stands out. Without that don't know if I'd be that keen to see it again. I missed it at the cinema, by the way.

To answer my own question, I've just read the Widescreen Review on this title, and they confirm the problem on DD and DTS. :-( Interested to find out if the R2 has the same problem when it comes out.

My R1 sounds fine with DTS, or are you saying there are rogue discs out there?

I've just checked the R1 disk and it's on both the DTS and the Dolby, however it's not all the way throughout the movie on the disk I have, just every now and again. While noticeable, it doesn't detract from the movie IMO.

I confess my player wont output DTS to check, but if your disc is fine and both my disc and the Widescreen Review test disc were distorting, it would appear so. I thought that my problem would be down to a mastering issue, but I don't see how different batches could be different with that scenario?

If the R3 is ok then hopefully when an R1 SE arrives that will be ok too.

yep, mine does it. I thought I had a problem with my speakers. I watched this film VERY Loud, awesome except for a wierd 'metallic ringing' sound intermittently on the vocals particularly. Is there any point sending it back? Are they all like this?

I experience the exact same thing with my re-cut and extended version.

Blast! I haven't gotten around to viewing the extended version, but had hoped the audio would have been sorted.
