I was under the impression that when recording on the Panasonic DMR-EX77 that you could also watch a DVD. I've been trying to watch a pre recorded DVD whilst also doing a timed recording and I'm getting an icon on the screen that implies I can't do both at once. The manual doesn't seem to explain it clearly. I can record and watch something else that is already on the hard drive so I'm not sure why I can't watch a DVD

If you have set a timed recording for freeview then the machine will be in the PAL system. The DVD you are trying to watch is most likely NTSC. Even some region 2 discs are NTSC it seems.

Try another DVD or delete the timer recording.

It does explain this somewhere in the manual.

I just realised I am trying to play a HD DVD and stupid me didn't realise you can't play HD DVD's on this machine, duh I am sooo stupid. I bought the Ultimate Bourne Collection on HD DVD for my partner and now he won't be able to watch them

    Good point Gav!!

    The HD-DVD.

Definitely not the EX77, the way I'm feeling at the moment. We've had a parting of the ways, due to DVD+R DL, which is my chosen storage method at the moment, and handled nicely by my NOISY 870 :smashin:.

I'm going to sell the HD DVD's and buy just the regular DVD collection. If I had known before I took the cellophane wrapping off I could have sold them as sealed. I can't believe I was so daft

How much do you want for them please?

Are you going to advertise them in the classifieds here?

I wasn't aware you could advertise on here. Is it as safe as eBay on here? I have no idea what to ask for them, as I said before they aren't sealed now but they are absolutely in brand new condition apart from that.
