I might be wrong, but won't this be liable for customs charges as it's over £18?

Amazon.com are doing it for about £18.65 plus shipping, if the exchange rate changes abit it could go under the customs limit, will keep an eye on it.

I was just checking the Amazon.com price to work out whether it was below £18 or not: according to the BBC website the current exchange rate is $1.77/£1 which means $32.49 is £18.37. I presume they debit your account at the current exchange rate when it's despatched so it may be a bit of a gamble whether its price is below £18 or not, hopefully the exchange rate will be above $1.80 next month :)

Is it worth the risk though? would it be better to get it from Axel Music for £22.99 where you know there will be no customs?

Sorry for not replying until now, I don't visit here very often...

I didn't know Axel Music avoid customs charges, in that case I would still order it from them. I assumed outside of the UK = liable to charges, but I guess the whole of the EU is OK from this point of view?

Even if you do avoid customs charges on Amazon, their postage to the UK is very expensive ($8, $12 or $36 depending on how fast you want it!) so I'd definitely go with Axel Music.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't the price of the item calculated on the exchange rate that is prevailing on the day that the item is caught?

Certainly is jian. Customs are not going to be checking with the place you bought it from to find out what date it was purchased on and then find out what the exchange rate was that day. Too much hassle for them, they will just check on the current rate.

And if you do get caught by customs you will also have the post office admin charge to pay as well which is usually a couple of quid.

Bloody rip off that handling charge. I wanna buy Lost which is £21.56 with free postage from dvdimport but customs will take it to over £30 which I can hardly afford.

It's long overdue that they raised that £18 limit, when you go abroad on hol you can bring back over £100 with no customs, it should be the same limit for net purchases too.

I heard a rumor somewhere that they are thinking of rasing the limit - the figure i heard was 75 quid but that sounds a bit high.

The Canadian release will have both English and French on the cover, with Season 5 this came in the form of a slipcase over the standard US release but with the new packaging the French writing might be printed onto the case and as my Seasons 1-5 are English only I wanted to keep the sets the same.

Ok thanks Indiana. Do most Canadian releases come with French text?
