The recent Friends box sets promotion also had this sort of tag - I think it was 'promotional price' then though. The image looks the same as the boxes I have at home though - I reckon it's just a bargain.
Brilliant find thankyou. I buy the Simpsons sets the day they're released but I've been umming and ahhing re- Futurama for ages - not any more! Fingers crossed there's enuff sets to go round (NB I ordered one of each but I'm sure there are people on here that'll buy 25 copies... )
I dropped Play a message to ask about this 'promotional version', and this was their response:-
'It is a promotional campaign by the producing studio._ The information regarding item specifications comes directly from the releasing studios. Whilst we strive to keep our website as up to date and as thorough as possible, we are unable to provide any further details than those specified.'
So no further forward. I am hoping that these are as per the existing boxsets - i.e. not cut down versions, as I have just ordered Simpsons series 3 (one of the finest - at the top of their form), and Futurama series 2, 3 and 4.
Do you think if we all waft our credit cards, they will cool down ?
Me neither re- cheaper packaging but the special features listed for the promotional packs mirror exactly what's included in the standard release. Since I'm only getting them for the commentaries I'll be gutted if it turns out they're not included - but I can't see it happening, surely? They've sourced some sly boxsets from somewhere, not found a cheapo version (otherwise other retailers would be advertising this new and cheaper, extras-reduced release). Whatever, roll on 29-Mar!
Just to concur with what was said previously in this thread - when I called Play they told me that they had sourced the boxsets at a cheap price but they wouldn't be able to get a hold of them until the stated date (29th March?). So, I'm not sure if this is going to end up being a nationwide thing.
I put in a pre-order just in case this was a one off/they all sold out.
