And i'm sure the regulars will remain objective;)

Do you think i would experience improved picture quality with the new Panasonic AE300 (LCD:eek: ) over my Sony 1272Q. Still haven't set my 1272 up yet so i can't comment on that! (c'mon i've only had it a year:rolleyes: )

    Cheers,

    Shaun

    Simple answer:

    No.

If it's a proper permanent installation the Sony will win hands down.

I'm hoping to get my Barco D600 put up permanently some time this year, or if not the Barco then a better Sony 1270/71 or an NEC.

I just need a room to put one in, thinking about building a wooden frame shack in me garden. Would have to be no more than a £2-3k though.

    Dreams....:)

    Shaun,

No contest mate - It's worth the extra work of installing the CRT, perticularly if you are using an HTPC or scaler. (As long as the tubes are nice).

Cheers Nath, the tubes are all very low hours. It was just the cost/ hassle of the install that got me reconsidering and the size of the AE300 compared to the 1272:eek:

I know the feeling mate - swinging a 70Kg beast from the ceiling can be a sobering though. The 127* series is a bit too big for coffee table mounting! Having said all that if you plan well and have a few strong mates around to get it up to the mount its not too difficult. Its also quite an easy projector to setup. My 1270q used to look its best around 720p.

Let us know how you get on.

    Cheers,

    nath
