Cinemateq have no interest in telling people what chip is in there. I suspected Genesis/Faroudja at one point since it has very good anti-aliasing and jaggie filtering. But I think they have taken the right approach in not making a big noise about the chipset itself as it is the implementation that makes the difference not the chip.
Just look at how many people leapt at HQV devices only to discover they have naff 2:2 detection and early on many manufacturers couldn't do 48/72Hz!!! But it has HQV in it so everyone figures it's the best. Same for Lumagen, assumption that the SiI504 is old hat and so no good. I still haven't seen a C-II or VP50 do 2:2 and 3:2 as good as the Lumagen, and Luma scaling is definitely better.
