Why are DVD recorders still coming out with region codings, and is this practise going to end anytime soon?
I fully understood the idea behind this when DVD was in it's infancy, but is there really any point any more? Everyone who wants to watch another region simply has their machine hacked, chipped, or whatever - or buys one from a firm where this has already been done. This is all a bit inconvenient. Why not just get rid of the region codings? The old arguments for having regions are long gone. Most people 'down the club' are already watching the new Zorro movie on some ***** screener pirate anyway.

Blame the film studios. It is they who demand region codes so they can phase the release of movies around the world.

Don't the film studios know how simple it is to get a machine 'decoded', and buy discs from anywhere in the world via the net?
