I'm just dipping my toe in the waters of HTPC with my projector and would be keen to hear what software combination and settings people had achieved success with the Sim2.

I'm using a cheapo Radeon VE and Powerstrip and so far all has looked rubbish apart from 800x600 at 60Hz.

Have tried WinDVD and PowerDVD both with lockups. Would welcome anyone with more positive experience of using their projector.

    Thanks for your help.

    Regards,

    Ian,

I have used a HTPC with my HT200dm,

The PC is a Radeon 8500 based athlon 1.4, I used Power dvd4.

The picture is very good at 800x600, you shouldn't have to use powerstrip at this res. I found that I couldn't use it on desktop for long as the picture was fuzzy and out of focus looking but in film it was file.

    Hope this helps

    Thanks Paul,

Did you have any success with the wide mode (848x480) as I would have thought this could have given the best quality. My Radeon doesn't seem to want to play, even with Powerstrip.

    Thanks for your input.

    Hi Ian,

848x480 didnt work for me. The projector using a vga input wants to see a 4:3 ratio I think. When you give it 848x480 native resolution, it looks awfull. Might work if you go 848x600 worth a try but I cant anymore no HT200 to play with at the moment.
