sim2-HT200--problem with progressive scan

:lease: I've recently bought a denon 3910 to use with my HT 200
but when I set it to output p.scan my Sim keeps coming up with
"no signal" no matter what I do. The only way I can get a picture
is to change the setting on the denon to interlaced. The picture
looks fine but I am still confused as my previous Pioneer 737
would output p.scan on Nstc without problems
Any help would be v. much appreciated

This may seem obvious but are you selecting the correct input number on the Sim2 as they are different for interlaced and progressive? As far as I remember from my HT200 I had to select input 6 for prog. scan from my Denon 2900. Hope this helps!

Thanks Timmy,
I did select input 6 on the HT 200 but still no picture-in fact there was
a black screen with intermittent lines . I'm wondering if theres something
wrong with the denon.By the way, what is the function of the Sim's own
de-interlacer?
Thanks again

The only other thing I can suggest is you try pressing the 'auto' button (green button on the bottom of the Sim2 remote) while your looking at the black screen you mention. I doubt it will solve anything but it's worth a try.

I dare say Jeff or Alan will post a more helpfull reply when they read this if it's a known problem. Otherwise see if you can borrow another 3910 and see what happens.

The HT200 was released before 576p 50Hz was developed - you shouldn't have any problems with 480p 60hz.

Please check as to which software version you have - the last release is 1.21 which should fix the problem. If you have this already then there may be a fault with the unit.

Thanks Alan,
your suggestion sounds eminently logical-I will look into it.I am considering
a new domino 30h or 300e to fully utilise the denon's hdmi capabilities;
what level of superioty does the 300e hold over the domino? I have seen
the infocus pj's ,which although good are more like watching a big TV rather
than the SIM'S more involving beautiful images-I guess this is what people
mean by "more cinematic".Ultimately I believe we should all remember the
real reason we spend so much money-ie to enjoy movies even more .
So relax and enjoy !
Thankyou again for everyone's help and comments

The main difference between D30 & HT300E is that the 300E has DC3 and improved light engine to give a higher contrast.

As you have quite rightly identified, the superior optical performance gives clear, sharp "film-like" images over the other brand.
