    Hi all -

    embarrassingly rudimentary question for you...

My dad just got a silver crest SL65 from LiDL, planning to use it as a freeview box.

I have no experience with satellite, but looking at it, it seems like it needs a dish to do anything at all.

Is there any way to attach the SL65 to an aerial and use it as a straightforward terrestrial freeview box (signal reception is very good where he lives).

    Thanks for yr indulgence :D

A satellite receiver has to be connected to an LNB on a suitably aligned dish. If you connect it to an aerial you'll short-circuit the internal LNB voltage supply. It certainly can't be used to receive terrestrial Freeview signals.

    Thanks Sam -

I reckoned if it was possible, they'd have stuck on a coax socket - but that confirms it. Cheers.
