I've just installed Media Player Classic and when I use it to play a DVD the movie plays fine but there is no sound.

I'd prefer to have the sound out via spdif which works fine with PowerDVD. I ticked the spdif boxes but there is still no sound. There was nothing coming out of the line out socket either, before I tried the spdif.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

    Dave

    Hi

I can't get any sound when using spdif as well.

The picture is also very fuzzy and bright white. which has something to do with hardware acceration being on but I can't thing where to switch it off.

Are you using an nVidia card? There is a fix for that problem. I'll try and dig it outn if you can't find it.

The reason I'd like to get this working is because the picture seems a lot better through MP Classic compared to PowerDVD for some reason.

That's odd I have Media Player Classic, spdif passthru and a 6600GT and DVD playback works fine on mine - I do have Ac3 filter installed, but didn't think media player classic uses that - worth a try though?

Thanks Lisa, I've got AC3 installed too. I think I'll try an uninstall and re-install of that.

I've downloaded it and I'll try it tonight, thanks for the link.

I can't get any sound out of spdif when using WinDVD 5, Windvd 6, Power DVD 6, VLC, media player classic.

I've also just installed that AC3 filter.

I could a few weeks before though.

Well I have some good news

Media Player Classic is now outputting via spdif.

    Here's what happened.

After I had re-installed AC3 there was no sound from PowerDVD and no SPDIF option within it's configuration.

I decided to uninstall AC3 and then the SPDIF worked within PowerDVD.

I noticed when AC3 was installed that I could see it as an option within Media Player Classic (Play/Filters/AC3 Filter) and it could be configured from there. After I had uninstalled it the AC3 filter option had been replaced by an nVidia Filter. When I clicked on that it allowed me to select Speaker Setup. I could then select "Receiver" as the output connection and I could then select via SPDIF.

At this point the DD5.1 came forth from my speakers

Thanks to everyone who tried to help, hopefully this will assist fellow sufferers (Reznor)!

    Hello,

I've fixed it. I uninstalled and reinstalled the dvd player software and now it all works.

All except media player classic, which keeps freezing, but nevermind.

Thanks for the help Dave and Lisa.

Glad to hear you are almost sorted.

What filter is MPC using? (look under Play/Filters/)

I've had massive problems over the last day or so. I've had to re-install from scratch and I've not bothered with MPC, I've gone for VLC instead. Works fine and I'm please with the pq.
