    Hey all,

So we are now in the final count-down for XBOX live, Beta Stage 2. The release date is 29th November 2002, so hopefully by the middle of the following week my starter pack will arrive and I can get online .. so ......

    - who else on here is joining up
    - has anyone heard what the exact process is going to be (on the 29th will a link just appear on the xbox.com website and we can order from there or can we order now ?

I personally cant wait - got the old 40" RP TV (full DD / DTS setup) and to play motoGP, or Unreal on this, while fragging your asses is going to be very very cool ....

I'm planning on signing up. I'll definitely get MotoGP (full) and probably a football or hockey game to start with.

On a related note, check this out:
    http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/54/28287.html

150,000 signups in the first week. Looks like MS might actually make money out of this afterall. Course, it's still too early to make any assumptions. I expect a resurgence of PS2 fanboys attacking the console after this positive news.

So does this mean Xbox Live is going fully live over here in the near future - or is this still for testing ???

Live is available to buy from MS in the UK at the end of the month (your subscription wont start ticking untill the 'official' release in march)

How do you actually connect up the X-Box to the broadband connection? Deciding at the moment whether to get a PS2, or X-Box, and must admit I'm being drawn to the X-Box. I've got a Broadband connection on my PC upstairs, so I'm guessing I would have to trail a wire from upstairs, but does it connect via the modem, or the box on the wall??

hi there, not to sure what your chances are - but I have a matrix chip set on mode 3 so that I can turn it off if I want. I would guess though that you need the original games?

thanks for all those who posted links - I'll be seeing yah all online....

As long as you've got a chip that you can turn off, you should be ok. If not, you're running the risk of getting locked out for good.

Sheesh, I was just on their site looking for it, and couldn't find it. My order went through ok.

Finally ordered my Starter kit after trying for hours on Sat/Sun, think there was a Server fault as I kept getting an error just after I had input my CC details.

Just waiting for Broadband now :( .......can't wait much longer....can't wait....

just got mechassault so i could get live working.how much fun is it.i`ve been playing it on live and only just a min ago i started the campaign.i`m well impressed.only a slight bit of lag at some points.then that was only due to building being blown up and the amount of us shooting each other.great fun

You'll probably need to give your ISP the MAC address of your Xbox (shown in one of the Live setup screens) before they'll allow it to connect. I did with Telewest anyhow. But other than that you should be ready to r&r.

I went for a netgear 814 from dsl wharehouse - £130, as it has a modem built in you could flog your other one on ebay and get back some of your costs.
