I have bought 2 second hand Grundig GDS310 Sky boxes. One is model 2.32 works fine - signal strength 50%, Quality 70%, no problem. The other model 2.64 connected to the same LNB/dish - signal strength 50%, signal quality is only 25% - very low & picture keeps breaking up. This is without altering the dish as it gives such a good quality and picture on the other box. Do you think the tuner is at fault? Is there anything I can do yo correct this fault?

    Power supply fault.

Try swapping the power supply PCB's over. Easy job if you're careful.

Note that the power supply will still retain a very healthy charge even if it's been unplugged for days. Don't attempt this if you're a ham-fisted eejut!

Three screws to remove the top cover, one above the mains input socket. Four hold the PCB in place. Remover the connector to the main PCB and carefully remove the power supply PCB! Fit the other one, re-assemble and power up.

Has this proved the point? If so, the PCB can be repaired. Usually by replacing all the electrolytic capacitors.

    Good luck.
