    Hi,

According to the manual for my PWD7, side bars are one of the mose likely causes of screen burn, and that protection should be turned on. I can get this to work fine for 4:3 signals, but sometimes, it seems as though pictures from channels are sent 16:9, but are only a 4:3 picture and the rest of the frame is filled with a black bar. In turn, the PWD7 does not see this as a 4:3 signal and does not use the grey bars. For example, currently the Bratislava Vs Celtic game on BBC1 Scotland.

Does anyone have any recommendations on solving this. At the moment I just set my Topfield to 4:3 and that fills the screen - is that the only way. I connect using component signal.

    Ta,
    Ian

    Hi

I wouldn't worry about it. The later generation Panasonic panels are all but completely immune to screen burn.

I don't recall a single recorded incident on these forums where anyone has suffered.
