Ive started a little early this year, as we are hosting a Halloween party tomorrow. So I’ve carved my first pumpkin of two I’ll do this year.

My youngest wanted a Goblin, so here it is:

That right there is some skilled carving!

Now I reckon we need a username and today’s date handwritten next to these amazing creations?

Not that I’m doubting anyone”s creativity, so who’s with me???

I'll nip over the road with a post-it note, who could tell?

Actually, I could ask our master carver if he would let me,

Good job. What did you use to carve it? I normally use a hacksaw blade with end cut off to remove the 'pins' and create a point, and then put wood around the other end to create a handle.

Made last night.

These are the tools I use.

I keep meaning to get a small handheld drill, as it would make the whole job 10x quicker and easier.

My second and final creation. A Gargoyle chosen by my eldest, carved this evening ready for tomorrow night:

How do you lot do these? Are they using templates or freehand? Some are very impressive.

You need to be at one with your pumpkin, stroke it, hug it, close your eyes and feel its contours and eventually the carving the pumpkin wants will appear in your minds eye.

Don't open your eyes at this point! but take your knife and let the pumpkin guide you hands only those who are truly linked to their pumpkins can create such magnificent images.

I used a similar kit when carving pumpkins last year, it went really well... for a while...
