Once Mr CityLink man arrives I shall have my nice new setup comprising of:-

    Arcam AVR-280
    Quad L-ites
    2 x Atlas Optical Cables
    QED Micro Speaker cable

    PS3 and SkyHD

I have a cheap Profigold Sub cable and some Profigold Banana Plugs

I know there's people on here who say cheap cables are as good as expensive ones. I'm just wondering if you think I should use the banana plugs or not and if it's worth me replacing the sub cable. I need a shorter one anyway but not sure if I should just use something cheap and cheerful or get a good named one.

    Thanks!!

I personally wouldn't replace the sub cable, there is nothing up with Profigold gear and use the Banana plugs, they will tidy up your installation and minimise the chance of stray wires causing shorts. If you tweak, fiddle and pull your AV rack apart as much as me, banana plugs (and a labelling machine) are a must!

    Nice setup btw!

Use the bananas - they make no difference to the sound quality, but they vastly reduce your chances of shorting the amp, and make the whole process of connecting so much easier.

A sub cable has a very simple job to do - carry really low frequency sounds without picking up mains hum. About the only requirement is decent shielding to help stop hum. The Profigold one will be fine.
