Been thinking of upgrading the software on my 128gb iphone 6 plus from ios 10 to ios 11 or what ever it is now.
Thing is a lot have told me dont bother as it will slow my handset down and basically make it run like a bag of spanners and I'd regret it.

Is they any truth in is this as if i'm honest going to grab a second hand iphone 7 plus from giff gaff for £399 but instead bought my lad a iphone 7 at £279 which I thought was a decent deal as his older iphone 5 handset is needing replacing,.
So I thought I'll update software on my 6 plus which might make me feel or think I've got a new handset for a while but Ive herd nothing but bad things about updating to ios 11.

My earpiece has started playing up slightly now and then with low volume and crappy quality so booked in to Apple for an appointment next Tuesday to see if they can help but in the email from them it says the handset needs to be on the latest software and I'm sure Apple will force my hand to update anyway and say some crap like it will improve the handset

    Any thoughts out there

    I upgraded my iPhone 6S+ to iOS11.
No complaints whatsoever, no change in performance or battery life.

My 6 Plus suffers with the battery/throttling issue. I’m not sure what versionnit was introduced though.

Have you tried iOS 11.3 with the new battery health setting you should be able to switch off the throttling I suspect?

It’s still in beta, but I might give it a try.

Well done update not really seen any difference apart from it takes ages to come on when switched on. Don’t really see any difference between 10 or 11

No there isn’t any visual difference, just little features added here and there which you wouldn’t know about unless you look for them/use them.

I was going to say if your thinking of upgrading to a 7+ then just update yours anyway, you’ve got nothing to lose. I’d highly recommend the 7 Plus by the way, me and the wife have one, everything about them is superb, can’t fault it in any department.

Taken some amazing portrait pictures of our new baby recently using my 7 Plus:thumbsup:

Noticed a few visual changes but nothing special, yeh the 7 plus looks a decent handset and don’t the the 8 plus is worth the extra over the 7 plus just for wireless charging. [emoji106]

Well had ios 11 over a week or so now and to be honest it's slowed my handset down and made it laggy. Wish id not bothered now for what ive noticed in differences. Will make a good back up handset tho for when i finally manage to find a 7 or 8 plus in decent condition

Have you checked if the phone's been throttled due to the battery health?

Wouldn’t know how to, battery app says 14% average.
In battery health setting says maximum capacity 87% if any of this helps

There should be a “Peak Performance Capability” under the “Maximum Capacity” on the Battery Health setting page.

I can honestly say I've never had any hit to my 6SPlus's performance from any update since I bought it a couple of years ago when it came with iOS 9.3.5
