My current Sony 40"TV is giving me no trouble and is about 8 year old. (paid £1400 then).
I am thinking of treating myself and wondered if either of these two would be a recommended purchase..
Sony KD49X8505BBU

Samsung WE48HU7500

All I want is a better picture, not bothered about gaming and any other unnecessary bells and whistles will be wasted on me.

Looking around on the web some comments on other sites to other potential buyers are :-

"wait until April/May when new models are released"
"4K is wasted on models around 48"screen"
"Don't bother with 4K at all".

Any advice will be very welcome.
thanks

same problem her for a 65",but if you wait, how long before the new tech i:e oled. a lot of doubt it seems of it succeeding/quantam dot, doubts if it improves led a lot /hdr which seems to bridge the gap,but how long before they drop to most peoples definition of affordable,

I'm in the same situation. I'm thinking of getting a Samsung UE48U6700 (kinda hoping the price will fall a bit) but now I'm now wondering whether I should be hanging on for newer tech. I'm not going to spend a bunch of cash so perhaps I'm better off just buying the Samsung. Decisions!
