Would the extra back channel really be a big difference over 5.1? I am considering the Marantz 4200 or 5200. Any opinions from 6.1 owners?

    JIT,

Go for 6.1. - you won't be disappointed. Go for 5.1 and you'll read all about EX and ES soundtracks and whish you had.

At least if you go for 6.1 you have a choice :)!

    Hi

Definitely an improvement over 5.1. Well worth having, once you´ve watched films mixed in 6.1 you´ll see what we mean.:)

    JIT,

For me it's got to be 6.1.

Stick your hand further in your pocket and go for it.

Then be prepared to be Gobsmacked!! ;)

The improvement of 6.1 over 5.1 is quite substantial on a well mixed soundtrack. Definitely go for 6.1. However I do feel we are maxed out for speakers now. I have read Tom Holman is working on a 10.2 system.??
The look of horror on my wifes face when I read this to her was plain to see. She still wanders around the house muttering 10.2 under her breath and shaking her head.:D

That's cos you should have been out the house at 5.1 as her toy boy comes round at 10.2........:D

With 6.1 is it worth having two rear speakers or would it be just as good to stick with one rear speaker?

    :clown:  :D
