I was about to buy a 28" widescreen TV (probably JVC or Philips) until I started reading this forum! Since we don't have a DVD or digital (we're boring people who watch terrestrial analogue) I'm wondering if we should stick to 4:3 instead. Its just that 16:9 sets seem to dominate the market now. I realise this is a very wooly question but if you saw our current telly you'd know I'm a newbie!

If you don't have a digital source, then you wont be using a widescreen set correctly as there are no anamorphic widescreen broadcasts on analogue sources.

If you have no plans to get a digtal source in the next few years, then don't bother getting a widescreen set.

Agreed -but if you think you might get a DVD player or digital telly in the next 4 or 5 years - then I'd go for a widescreen.
