I am very tempted to get a TAG McLaren 1005R 5-Channel Power Amplifier to go with my TAG AV32 DP, but I have never heard it and not sure what it would sound like in plain old stereo.

I have @ the moment a Belcanto Evo2.002 Power running the 2 main speakers and a rotel rb975 running the rears and centre.

So the question is, not how good the TAG McLaren 1005R 5-Channel Power Amplifier is, but would I be improving the sound in both stereo and of course in 5.1 surround. I have a pair of B&W 805 sigs.

    Cheers

the 100x5R was fine mid price AV amplifier. It also makes for a good stereo amp due to the monobloc design.

The bigest plus point would be the TAGtronic bus which allows total control via the AV32R.

You can always use you other amps to bi-amp.

    I agree!!

Before all TAG equipment, I had an Audiolab 8000s/px/cdm/dax setup and 100x5 amp blew the px away. I currently listen to more music than films and using DIRECT through my AV32 (this bypasses the processor altogether) I found the amp to be sweeter and cleaner than my old PX.

    Thanks for the replys.

I just wondered has anyone heard the Belcanto & the Tag in a comparison.
It would be a big step for me to sell the belcanto as it is such a fantastic 2 Channel Power Amp.
The Tag would have to be something very special.

    Cheers

I'm sure someone has Belcanto amps on here, Antonio perhaps? Anyway the 100x5R could run the centre and the rears and replace your Rotel. A good excuse to upgrade to 7.1 if you haven't already :rotfl:
