    Hi chaps
I'm in the market for a new sub I've had my Yamaha for about 7 years
and it was an old model when I got it.
The room it will be going in is 6mts by4.5mts with Celestion A2 floor standers
at the front and Mission & B&W as the rears with a Castle Keep hoding up
    the front.
The short list I have drawn up or should I say long list is,
XLS200,MS309,PSW2500,Mission M3AS,Mission M75As,all roughly the same price. The one I'm leaning towards is the XLS200 because of the good reviews on this forum, but am wondering if it will be big enough.
    Cheers
    Mike.

    Denon2900,Harman KardonAVR430,Celestion A2's Castle Keep, Mission 71's
    B&W Solids,Arcam Alpha 7,Hitachi PD42000.

    Hi Mike,

The 2 subs out of the group you have listed that have good rateings are the XLS200 and the MS309 as i think there are few people on here that own them and say that they are good value for the quality of bass that they produce.

    John :)

Just to throw a spanner in the works, comparisons of the MS309 and XL200 might need to be updated to MS409 vs The XL. The 409 is £290, has an extra 50w and comes with an SPL to set it up. Think of it as a breathed on 309 with a cabinet increase and you're halfway there.

You would be very happy with either the xls200 or 309. If space is at the premium then the xls200 is the one to go for.

Hey Tons when is the 409 going to be available to buy then? Seems like it could be another budget sub test coming up between the xls 200, MS 409 and the SVS PB10-ISD:devil:

The Airfrieghted Genies are rattling around the system at the moment but the big delivery comes on stream at the end of the month. There should be plenty from there on in.

    Hi chaps
I'm even more confused now, space is'nt a premium so I dont mind the size
of the sub,SVS e-mailed me this morning and said if I ordered a PB10-1SD
it would be here at the latest by the 2nd week of nov.But I've got to say
i'm still very temted by theXLS200 and the new 409,the 409 being a slightly bigger box might be a little better and it comes with a meter, but the XLS200 comes with all the cables.(Does the 409 come in chrry ?)
    Thanks
    Mike.

I wouldn't use the cables as a buying factor.
I have an XLS200 in cherry and its lovely, the company were very helpful too. I haven't got my system set up properly yet so can't comment adequately on the quality but it certainly thumps it out.
The cables that come with it are real cheapies though and from what I've seen a decent sub cable doesn't break the bank - I will be getting one soon!

    Hello Woodgaz

I don't think the leads are that bad, the 10M high level lead is the same as you would get from the shops and pay £25.00 for, and the phono lead has now been upgraded to a quality gold plated phono to phono, of course there are better leads on the market but the leads supplied with the XLS200 should be ideal to get anyone hooked up and on thier way. Another thing to consider when deciding on the XLS200 is that it is manufactured in the UK

Very good points Tom. Particularly the made in the UK bit. Like I said, the company is great to deal with and the sub is excellent too. I just wasn't too enamoured with the compter speakers type phono lead I got, there is no way of using the undoubtedly good quality high level lead with my amp though.... is there?
I will be getting a different lead soon but I'm not bagging BK in any way. I'd highly recommend them.

    Hello Woodgaz

We had taken onboard the criticism about the phono lead some weeks ago and now supply a higher quality gold plated phono to phono lead, I did not think you were bagging BK for a minute, I just thought I would take the oppotunity to say the lead is now worth using

Even though BK are now supplying a better quality lead with their subs it is worth pointing out that most other subs don't come with any leads at all.

Indeed. I'm sounding like a right ungrateful pikey now so I wish I hadn't said anything. Golden rule of forums - know when to keep your mouth shut.
