I was going to pre order Harry Potter and Monsters Inc from Future. The thing is, do they debit credit cards straight away or only when the titles are being shipped?

They debit them straight away, but the way i look at it is you have to pay sometime, try and find a better price elsewhere (for HP) and the reliablity that FE give.

Future never used to pre charge on pre orders.
When I noticed a charge on my credit card for pre orders due in August I contacted them and asked if this was a mistike.

I got a reply back saying that they were a rapidly growing company and this was how they now operated to keep prices low. The tone of reply was very condescending and they suggested that if I didn't like it not to order movies so early!

After several e mails to them ( none of them answered correctly)
I have cancelled all my outstanding orders with them.

I dont mind paying in advance, but the lack of information regarding the change and there unitersted attitude means that I will not be ordering from them again.

Why not send a post dated cheque (ideally a week before street dates) ?

Perhaps an antiquated way of doing things, but keeps those pounds in your a/c that bit longer & I find it useful when ordering several titles a month (most of which street the same time).

Have been a satisfied customer for several years now, and are glad that the co. is upgrading it's packaging next month.

    Regards,

    Blloyd

Can you pay by cheque, I thought they only took CCs.
I heard that the policy of charging upfront was made when their website was upgraded this year. By having an automated charging process at order date they can reduce their workload as don't need the people / process to charge you each and everytime an order is despatched.

Also I believe they charge you a fee for cancelling preorders.
Was discussed in depth here or on another forum I read.

I was once told by a bank person that there is no such thing as a post dated cheque, apparently banks are obliged to honour presented cheques as long as the date isn't x months old. apparently:confused:
