Shops that can upgrade a Technics 1210

Good evening all, after much deliberation I've decided I'm going to 'pimp' my 1210 rather than buy another deck as I really like DD I'm afraid and already enjoy the sound.

I already have a fairly decent cart and mat and am in the process of putting Isonoe feet on it, all things I'm able to do myself.

That's where my skills end, I'm going to source an external PSU from Origin, a Jelco 750D arm and a bearing, probably from
Mike New.

What I'm after is somebody that can fit them for me in the Bristol area, the closest I can seem to find on line is Slough or London (unless I go South and pay silly money to a well known modder who I'm sure is good just expensive).

Does anybody know of anybody that will not charge the earth to do this for me in my area?

Thanks, S

i have no idea of answers for your question sadly. but i would be really interested in hearing what you think of the upgrades when you manage to get them done.
i've been considering a mat, and wondered about a Jelco. i talked to Audio Origami and he seemed to think the Technics arm with new wire and bearing fettling was just as good for less money. i've not sent the arm yet, but i think i might.
the offboard psu is interesing though....

good luck in your search. i'm not sure if i'm allowed to say it but there are other forums online, and one of them has a LOT of SL1210 fans on it. all who are happy to help with upgrades. it's called The Art of Sound..... very different forum to this one, but good for SL1210 stuff :)

Caveat. I have absolutley no experience with any of the following and cannot judge the effectiveness of the modification, or even the seriousness of the company. Please do not consider any of these links a recommendation, they are merely pointers in case you wish to investigate further. Your choice to proceed is entirely your responsibility. [Sorry, but I want to be clear.]

Many thanks.

Mike New is in Australia and I know about SoundHiFi.

I'll check the others out later when I have access to a PC.
