I'm not one for conspiracy theories, but this case really does seem to be just the tip of a larger more interesting iceberg.

Iraqi born, British satellite engineer murdered, apprently in the style of a targeted hit along with his wife and an Elderly woman with a Swedish passport.

Ex British RAF officer is the first to come across their bodies.

Sounds like the start of a Frederick Forsyth novel.

All those claims have been made in the press in the last 48 hours. Including the Beeb.

I heard somewhere that sometime ago he was on a terrorist watch list so maybe it was terrorist's taking him and his family out. Either way, tragic for the children, heartbreaking.

Don't believe what you read in the press do you?
So the French cyclist who was also shot was a witness or part of the conspiracy?

More likely a random French hillbilly nutter imo

Now it seems it may have been a family affair. A dispute over inheritance.

Your first post had detailed info that I'd not seen in any links. Hence the request.

So no more links needed, thanks all the same.

While hunting is a fairly common sport in rural France, it does seem the accuracy of the 'bullet in the centre of the head' for at least three of them precludes it being a hillbilly. Most French hunters couldn't hit a barn door 2M in front of them, even when sober (which it seems isn't that often)

Just an empirical observation from living here for several years.

its clearly a targeted attack in my opinion, and also by someone who knows what they're doing....

i do feel sorry for the little girl who hid for 8hours or so though.

Whilst i understand that the police wouldnt want to damage any potential evidence surely they shouldve been in the car checking pulses and so on when they first got to the scene??

It's being reported in exactly those terms so you're not the only one to have that opinion.

i dont think we'll ever find out who did the actual deed though.... Am sure we may well find out who set it up (family fall out or not) but i dont think they will ever catch the actual killer.... esp with mainland europe at your feet, probably long gone by now.

That was my first thought, but apparently they scanned the interior with a thermal imaging camera and picked up no body heat.

I could barely sleep last night, after reading late on that she was laughing and joking with the gendarme that carried her away from the car, only for her mood to change abruptly when she realised mummy wasn't answering her calls.
    Heart breaking stuff. :-(

Apparently the brother has volunteered himself to the local Police station in the UK.

But maybe the cyclist was the target, if he was on a regular route at a regular time the car park would be a nice quiet place to whack him and the family weren't supposed to be there.

Maybe the assasin was expecting a drug dealer to turn up at the precise time the family did and they got taken out by mistake. Because at the moment, there is a lot (relatively speaking) of drug related extreme violence in France, especially the South. And I imagine that drug realted assasins are not very bright, if thats their chosen profession.

    But its all just speculation.

As for the police not finding the poor wee munchkin, I don't think anyone would have looked too hard in those conditions. Three people all obviously dead, shot between the eyes, the other girl shot but alive, the cyclist shot in cold blood. Why would anyone think to check underneath the two women for a petrified child? Especially if it means disturbing a crime scene where every little detail may be vital.

Don't know whether I have missed something here in reference to other threads, either way I find this to be an incredibly crass and insensitive comment......and is one of the reasons that I do not come in here anymore.

I think this may have been related to France's colonial history in North Africa - we weren't the only ones there.
