Well, i've never been the greatest fan of B&W speakers.
Yes, i haven't heard ALL of their range, but i've heard a pair of their speakers that i thought were really good. (Very good!!!)

    805 Signature.

The stereo soundfield was superb (Infact it was fantastic!!!!).
Excellent imaging, and a great tonal sound to it.

They were being driven by a mighty Meridian 559 stereo power.
Source was a Meridian 588 CD player.

For some obscure reason i didn't see what preamp was being used:mad:Too busy thinking how great they sounded!!!!!!!

Another thing that made me grin was the fact that this guy's Stereo system was obviously his pride & joy & where his money goes, as his house was straight outta the 60's!!!!!!!!!!!:D

That quality furnishings look.....Real plastic chairs etc...

    Fantastic stereo system though!!!!!

Off topic but when I was a surveyor in the late 80's I looked at a house that was a mid terrace built in the late 50's. The owner had knocked down all the internal walls downstais to make an open plan living/dining/kitchen and the walls were papered with Orange flcok style wallpaper. There was Elvis stuff everywhere.
Upstairs the floors all ran to the middle of the floor as the supporting wall underneath was now missing. The bedroom had even more Elvis stuff and Elvis wallpaper. I wish digital photo phones had been invented then....no-one believed me when I told them!

    Oh, and 805sigs are GREAT!

Almost wish I'd waited until the Signatures came out,as I have a set of the 805s.....still very nice for the price and especially good with Krells.

    Alex.

What's the difference between the vanilla 805 & the signature?

There are quite a lot of differences, I believe. I know the cabinet is made from a different type of wood. The mid-range driver is different (larger magnet for one thing), the tweeter extends well into the ultrasonic, and the cross-over circuitry has also changed (one visible aspect of that being the fact that the cross-over frequency is different). Port has been retuned too.

So in essence the shape is the same and the rubber feet and packing are probably the same but other than that they are completely different.....and it shows.

The bass/mid driver is substantially changed, and reportedly better, and the HF driver has also been modified, with the crossover using higher quality and heavier duty components....having said that,I'm still very happy with the plain 805s and the Krells!

    Alex,

What stands are you using for your 805s (B&W or HNE perhaps??)

    Cheers
