Mods, not sure where this can go, please move if it's in the wrong place.

Ok folks, I have to ship a box weighing 70kgs to the US. UPS want £249.........

I've never sent anything to the US before, so I have no idea if it can be done cheaper. Does anyone have any experience of a cheaper courier?

    Hope you can help.

    regards

    Parmenion :)

Check out the company ACI. I always used to use them at the last place I worked and they were so much better than DHL, FEDEX, TNT etc etc.

You can negotiate with UPS especially if you give the impression that you have lots of trade and you will put it all their way. We used to have a deal whereby we could ship any (really - any) box to EU for £7.00. We shipped documents to 80Kg.

On another note, they may be fussy about handling such a heavy package

Thanks guys. Not much luck trying either of those suggestions. Does anyone have any other ideas.

Anyone use a carrier to the US from their workplace?

    regards

70 kgs! What you shipping yourself?

It might be cheaper to buy it a seat on an air plane LOL

We use ACI cheapest weve found without looking far :)

Interested to know what you manage to get it for.
