    Hi,

I'm upgrading my PC sound. So far I've bought a Sonic Impact T amp 5066 and I'm looking for some (relatively) small speakers to go with it.

    My requirements would be-

-not too big, 25 cm max height, 16 cm deep, that sort of thing
-I would prefer 4 or 6 ohms rather than 8 ohm, since I think I read that would be louder with a low power amp like the Sonic T
-must be magnetically shielded, I still use a CRT

I was looking at JBL control 1, but they only go down to 120 Hz and I really don't want to use a sub. I'm guessing they're more suited to being sats in a 5.1 system than 2.0. Having said that I don't really know how deep 120 Hz is and whether I would miss the extra depth. My hi-fi system with Eltax Monitor 3's goes down to 50 Hz.

Another thing I was looking at was Mission M30i which are within my budget, not too big and shielded. Someone else suggested Mordaunt Short MS10i but I'm having trouble finding those.

I should also say I'm not necessarily looking for the best sound possible, since I have my hi-fi for serious music. What I'm after is much higher quality sound for games than my Logitech X530 gives me (should be easy).

Any other speakers I should be looking at, or any opinions on the JBL/Missions/Mordaunt? I know there's tons of stuff on ebay, but it's hard to find out whether speakers are shielded or not a lot of the time.

My budget is about £100. The JBLs are £40 and the Missions are £80.

    Thanks in advance,
    Simon :hiya:

Cheers for that. Probably looking to spend a bit more though. Still got my eye on JBL Control 1. I've read they're suitable for use as stereo monitors, they seem to be universally well regarded, and the price is ideal. Just wondering if they'll have any bass sat on a PC desk.

Wonder why they're so much cheaper at RS than anywhere else? Guess they could be returns.

Another option - Gale 3010 which RS have for £50 and are shielded.
