Had one for a day from rs - it was fine for movies, awful on music and developed a fault on the Front Left Channel within 24Hrs - took it back and got the ARCAM AVR100 cheap from discontinued stock (much much better on music). I use my kit 50/50 music and video - if you are cinema only, you might find it fine.

Apparently Sherwood make the Marantz kit (according to the guy at RS)

I'm not sure it's entirley comparable, but I have a Sherwood RD6108RDS which I am very happy with. Hasn't failed me yet and sounds pretty good for the price.

There is another post on here somewhere about crackling left spakers on set ups involving Marantz amps. I used to work in a factory that was part of an electronics manufacturing services company (i.e we made stuff for other firms that had their badge on it - e.g dell, nokia, sun, and many others). Obviously, the same manufacturing techniques and many common components went into all these different products (the designs were of course different).

Could it be that if some Marantz/ Denon and Sherwood kit is made by a common contractor, that contractor has introduced a common fault across the various makes?

    Makes you wonder don't it!
