Whilst watching TV last night, I noticed that my Sherwood 6103 has developed a tendancy to increase the volume all by its self!!! And typical, it's 6 weeks outside the warranty period 
. Now, assuming the problem is a real one, and I'm jnot imagining things, I will need a new reciever, but budget is limited. Based on research here, I've drawn up a short list:
Pioneer VSXD512
Sony STRDE495
Sony STRDE595
Denon 1603
Yamaha 5640
I've heard the Sony STRDB790 is a great amp, but just a little above the budget.
So, can anyone give any feedback on these? FWIW, they will be working with the following kit:
Toshiba ST330E (for DVD and CD)
Sony KV-32FX68
Pace NTL digital cable box
Eltax Jupiter speakers
