So I'm curious for those that have seen it how big a part is the slapstick and "fumbling over women, trying to buy beer, and attempting to make money out of being a superhero." bit? This was what really turned me off this flick from the trailers and if it's a big chunk of the runtime probably won't bother with it.

It’s a fairly large portion of the film, or at least it seemed like that to me. I enjoyed this a lot but thought it was trying a bit too hard to imitate the style of Spiderman:.Homecoming.

Oh-oh! That just dropped this back to "might watch" for me.
I Love nearly all of the Marvel / DC Movies (Guilty Secret - I like & own "The Justice League")
But Spiderman, for instance, never engaged me.

Thanks Cas. I have to say that this film was very disappointing it has a 12 certificate and it showed it is a kids movie. It did not have one moment of any laugh out comedy throughout, it has bad acting and an even worse script and a terrible plot

I was disappointed in this movie as well. The comedy was very obvious, and came across a bit forced at times. The film is also geared much more towards kids than the other superhero movies that I have enjoyed.

Gave it a miss at the cinema, but watched the 3D blu bundled with the French 4K steelbook. It was OK, 6.5 out of 10 at best. Competently written, acted and filmed, true to the comic, harmless fun really, but ..we’ve seen everything here before, the highlights in this review are copied from other movies like Big, Chronicle, Heroes TV show, etc.

No-one really needed to see this, I mean why Warner bother spending time and money here rather than another Batman or Superman film?

I thoroughly enjoy the grittier DC movies, this ... Well I had fun with it in the cinema, but there's no voice in my head saying I'd like to see that again. For that there's to much set-up story with a kid I can't relate to.

These lighter superhero movies aren't for me, that's including all the Spiderman's and Thor Ragnarok (that thing was just horrible)

It's an OK movie, but the sound is truly amazing. It's the first movie were I have actually turned down the sub level rather than want to turn it up. LOL

If this is scored a '9' I'll have to assume the scale goes beyond '10'...(?)

This film is entertaining and all that, but there is NO way it deserves a 9/10. That's pretty misleading...

Wasn't certain if I was going to like this one, and I didn't.
The humour was poor, action was okay but clearly aimed towards kids.
Don't want to introduce spoilers but the main character just didn't work for me.
      4/10

Or you could assume that you love to jump to conclusions, and react to them defiantly, before checking what you’re talking about.

      I'm sorry you misled yourself.

I thought it was one of the best DCU films to date, liked what I saw in the trailer but never got round to seeing it at the cinema but snapped up the UHD and so glad I did.

Who is painting it? I didn't score the film a 9. Are you really being this stubborn about a mistake you made and then overreacted to?

No, you're absolutely right - my mistake. Apologies..

Whilst I don't personally agree with '8' either, i appreciate that's a relatively fair score if you really enjoyed the film.

Apologies again. I'll go scrape this egg off my face now...

Thanks mate, I really appreciate your decency. No big deal, I defo agree it was never going to be a 9, but enjoyed it a lot nonetheless and, for those who did, it's a great disc.

Personally, I'd get rid of scores entirely as one person's 9 could easily be another person's 10 etc. etc. but I guess they're needed to give an instant (albeit very broad stroke) summary of opinion.

You're absolutely right, I've fallen foul to one of my own frustrations - the 'subjectivity' of scoring films etc. Always a tricky one..& there's generally far too much emphasis on that final digit, as you say...

Thank you for being cool about it anyway. I made myself look like an idiot there. Bad form on my part. A little humility never hurt anyone, right...

No the scoring is effective given there are only 2-3 reviewers, and you do the majority eviewing, and I feel you delegate reviews for ones you don't think you'll like to someone who might appreciate it more, which is the right approach. You have to accept reviews are subjective but for a reviewer they become a reasonable benchmark against your other reviews, and once a reader understands your leanings and tastes, compared to theirs, the score becomes an effective context to judge whether to watch, buy or skip. I wouldn't say the same for other sites where the reviewer names to films are adhoc and random, from month to month. Nothing worse than seeing a review of a genre film by someone who hates the genre, its a pointless exercise.

Hah, very true, I like your thinking. In fact even cinema films I don't get along with I prefer to have others review on BD/4K to see if there's a chance they might appreciate them more (and vice versa if I didn't cover it at the cinema, and it got a mixed/bad review).
