Not sure if this really should be under music, but if you thought Mr Shatner had learnt his lesson after 'Lucy in the sky with Diamonds', then you were wrong. Check out 'Common People' on the below link, actually listen to the whole interview. Great stuff.

I love his almost spoken word style. His interpretations of Shakspear and the like are awesome
I'll have to bag a copy of his new stuff too by the sounds of it :zonked:

There was another thread on this recently, where someone said Shat had done "Slave 4 U" - I still haven't tracked it down, but CAN YOU IMAGINE!!!!???

That would change the way we look at music, and indeed, civilisation as we currently know it.

He's also doing a very funny advertising campaign for yoghurty-coated something-or-other on commercial radio... he impersonates a British person saying "Not bad!", it really is comical. TV ad's not quite so good, though.

Would the Slave performance be available anywhere? eg file-sharing networks or suchlike....

Check out the movie "Free Enterprise" to see his gangsta-rap version of Mark Antony's eulogy from Shakespeare's "Julius Caeser".

Common People made me want to cry. It was so absolutely awful. How on earth did Jarvis Cocker allow his song to be bastardised like that?

Judging Jarvis by his attitude towards Michael Jackson at the Brits, I don't think he's the kind of person who's precious or pompous enough to say no to a cover version of his song by somebody else, because they're not 'worthy' enough. Anyway - do musicians (I use the term loosely!) have to ask permission to cover a song?

I'm sure there have been plenty of really rank covers in the last few years. Shatner's efforts are surely no worse than, say, Rachel Stevens releasing a cover to tie in with Sky's Premiership advertising campaign....

There's a funny out-take of Shatner recording a tv commercial here:
    The Tape Gallery
Click on "Fun Stuff" then "bloopers"
Some other funny stuff on there too....

Cheers for the link, that was quality!

For me, David Hasselhoff could be a future Shatner... just watch him in Knight Rider. "Come in, Kitt, I need ya buddy!"

Yeah, I thought he was being ridiculously helpful, but you can hear in his voice that he's enjoying making the guy squirm!
