Good bargains I think, £1200 for a 32" major brand LCD is very impressive.

Empire have the 26" GA4 still @ £1300+, wonder why that one isnt reduced

Can't seem to get the links to work for some reason. Interesting that the price of the Sharp is coming down, but I see the price of the Tosh 32WL48 is going up (based on a few online retailers e.g. unbeatable). I defintitley want to buy something before xmas and these price changes could make all the difference. Does anyone know if these places haggle e.g. if I was to buy a stand at the same time?

Joy! I almost bought the 26" yesterday for just over £1000!

Thanks for the links ASM495 - hopefully the bargains will still be there when the site's back up!

The Sharp is lighter, thinner and has DVI, removable speakers and Picture in Picture. I've seen both, and although I couldn't compare them next to each other, both appeared to be of equal quality - very good, that is.

I chose the Sharp and placed my order with Empire Direct this morning.

These models do seem to have most features. DVI, component, 16:9, detachable speakers.

    Why is there a £400+ difference between the 26" ga4 and 26" ga3? surely a mistake? the 32" ga4 is £200 cheaper than the same model 26" ga4 smaller.

Considering empire has the LC26GA3E for £940 I don't think JL's deal is anything to be shouting about.

Why not use John Lewis price match, pay Empire 's price but benefit from John Lewis 5 Year Warranty ?

Empire site doesn't mention the Sharp 3 Year Warranty, there is a box to tick to buy their warranty instead. I thought the Sharp warranty applied regardless of where it is purchased ( in UK ) ?

John Lewis don't price match with online stores. I would then say buy on Barclaycard and then pricematch BUT as JL give a 5 year warranty then if you try and do that then Barclaycard will say they're not the same as JL give extra warranty. However, if you're saving over £300 then I'd personally say that the 3 year warranty Sharp is giving at the moment is easily good enough.

I found the Sharp warranty extension PDF here...

    http://www.digitaldirectuk.com/pdf/dd-claimform-aquos-sep04.pdf

Don't need to say where you bought it from.

Wow, it seems the Sharp LCD prices in UK is really low. Where I live it's 25-35% more expensive. Does anybody know if I can buy the LC32GA4E from UK and use it in South East Asia? We have PAL system here also.

I haven't seen anybody discounting this online, perhaps Sharp are restricting distribution ?

Apart from titanium colour, the integrated DVB tuner in media box and metal dome tweeters rather than plastic dome, the GD1E looks super pricey compared to Sharp's other models ?
Have I missed something, or are we expected to pay a hefty premium for exclusivity and a trendy colour.

If Sharp don't allow supplies to discounters how are we supposed to buy it from John Lewis with a price match and 5 year guarantee ?
After all surely that's the purpose of discounters, nobody really buys stuff from them, just uses their prices to haggle down JL don't they ? :D

No, I don't think you've missed anything. I've seen the LC32GD1E in my local John Lewis, and the picture from the included freeview digital tuner was really terrible - it looked like the resolution of the original signal had been halved, then badly scaled back up to full screen in order to exagerate macroblocking artifacts as much as possible. Much better off with an external tuner.

RicherSounds are doing the LC26GA3E & 4E for £1099, so am going to try & get John Lewis to pricematch on Monday. You have to order the 4E from RS, so JL may not match. Failing that, Lakes have the 4E for £1199, which is still £100 cheaper than JL.

The only reason I'm sticking with JL is that I have some vouchers to use which were 10% off face value to buy, and they give a 5 year warranty on the TV.

    Fingers crossed for Monday ...

I'm having trouble finding the differences between the LC26GA4E and the LC26GA3E other than quite a few quid.

I assume the 4E is a newer model. Doe sit represent much of an improvement?

    Cheers

Clearly I was not looking hard enough. Is it just the speakers then? Just the price difference at Empire is crazy if it is!

Yea, just the speakers, and the stand is a little higher. Everything else is the same, as far as I know.

The LC-26GA3H also has a memory card reader which the 4E doesn't have.

    I found this: http://www.sharp.co.uk/aquos_tv/get_aquos/getaquos.asp
It doesn't really make it clear about whether or not the dealer you buy it from is an issue.

Incidentally, you can download any of their manuals by going to:
    http://www.sharp.co.uk/customersupport/manual/

Well I got my 32" sharp lcd today... Went into empire and they would price match no problems! Then also got them to price match on an audio set I wanted, within 1 hour I'd been to Bradford and back and picked them all up, now I happily have them installed !

There is no mention that it is from participating dealers only - on the Sharp website. Its just specific Aquos models
