Sharp LC32AD5E help (with PS3)

Hi,

Yesterday my SHARP LC32AD5E finally arrived and I connected it up with PS3 via HDMI. It worked perfectly until 3 hours later, the tv started to flicker and there was a thick black line going across the screen. I've switched cable ends, plugged into a different HDMI socket, and even went on to buy a new HDMI cable for £20 today hoping it would fix it. The cable still did not work so the problem is with the PS3 HDMI socket or the HDTV HDMI socket. I also tried a normal SCART lead connection to the HDTV and it worked fine. Has anyone ever experienced this problem and was able to fix it?

I purchased the TV from amazon paying £8 for express delivery and now if I was to return it, i'd have to wait an extra week and would have to pay return delivery costs which is a joke. Also the SHARP customer helpline is closed on the weekends.

All help is appreciated.

Thanks

That's a coincidence...

My Son has just ordered the exact same TV to go with the PS3 that we bought him for Christmas - it arrives next Friday.

However, the PS3 worked for a few days via the standard cable/adaptor into the SCART socket of his current CRT TV. Then, it started to exhibit the exact same symptoms as you have described. We tried it on two other TV's in the house and it works fine. Could it be that soon the one it is now connected to will start showing the symptoms, and that there is something wrong with the PS3 that is causing it.

Possibly just a coincidence but startlingly similar.

botty I just connected it with another 60 GB model and the problem still persists so it's either got something to do with 60 GB models or it's just the hdmi socket in the TV isn't functioning properly.

I'll see how we go on Friday when we connect up the Sharp TV via HDMI. Hopefully it's just coincidence.

If you arrange with Amazon I understand they will pick up the faulty TV and replace it with a new one at the same time. Just returned a Sony TV but I wanted a refund which will take up to a month so be warned. Also I did'nt have to pay any return costs due to it been a faulty product. Hope you get it sorted.

Go to TV Menu, select Options and select "Reset TV Settings". It should solve it, just worked for B J K (op) must of set something wrong on the TV, when the flickering occurred.. it would only stop when set to 576p on the PS3, so resetting the TV settings solved it.

Johnny.
