Can I receive HD with this TV set?

Sharp have said I can through component.

    Is this correct?

Will there be any adapters coming out etc that will make this TV accept HD?

    yes and no!

yes you can recieve HD signals via anologue component e.g. xbox 360 or from a HTPC via VGA D-sub

no, you won't be able to recieve digital high definition signals, that won't affect the quality (to any great extent) but it's expected that later versions of the new sky HD box and many of the coming next gen players wil be digital connections only (DVI with HDCP and HDMI) to preserve copyright restrictions.

If you've already bought the GA5, don't fret it probably won't matter for over a year, if you haven't bought this model wait for the new GA6 model out this month.

    hope this helps.

oh, and no it's unlikely there will ever be an adaptor to circumvent the HDCP protocol so you're stuck with analogue due toi the legality of such a device

Adapters already exist, and have done for some time.. they're expensive at the moment, but will be cheap once demand increases.

Thanks for the replies - appreciated.
