Apologies in advance for what may sound a (too) simple question, but assuming that connecting my Sharp to the DVI enabled HD745 DVD player via DVI to DVI will give best picture quality, what will be the best way to connect the two to get best sound quality.

    Regards,

THXultra - Thanks for the reply.

Will this get sound from the DVD player to output from the TV (and connected to Inout 4 i.e. DVI and 3.5mm stereo minijack on the Sharp ?)

thxultra - Thanks again, I will attempt to acquire a decent cable prior to the DVD player arriving Monday. Incidentally, this will be my set up until I make my mind up about a decent amp/receiver/speaker set up. I assume I will still need to keep this kind of connection even when eventually connecting via the amp / receiver?

When you get your amp/receiver and speakers you'll need a different cable to connect it all up.

You need either a optical or coaxial cable to connect the DVD player to your amp to be able to hear Dolby digital and dts.

thxultra - Thanks again. Yes I finally get it (I am such a newbie thick t**t !!) the sound will only need to go from the DVD player > the amp > the speakers, not to the TV.

TV would then need to be connected to the amp via it's audio 'output' connections to hear TV sound via the amp / speakers.

    Hi guys,
Just wondering have any of you tried hooking your Sharp up to a pc via the dvi? I'm thinking of purchasing a 26GA4E to use as a pc monitor so would like some feedback

Tesh - Haven't tried this yet although the connections which thxultra mentions in this thread would be the same for a PC. The manual seems to confirm that the Sharp will cope with all manner of PC resolutions, and I'm sure there is some threads in this forum as to peoples experiences using the Sharp with their PC's. On a general theme, I've had the Sharp for a week or so now, and I'm absolutely delighted with it. Good Luck.
